Fall in Love with Home Improvement

Summertime in the North Shore is busy! The beautiful sunny weather was a great time to catch up with family, enjoy the outdoors and breathe in the fresh summer air.

Now that school is starting, the leaves are beginning to fall, and the weather is taking a turn for the cool, it’s a great time to think about tackling some small updates and home improvement projects we didn’t get to during the summer.

If you saw my latest video, I decided to update my bathroom vanity to a lighter and brighter style that really opened up my bathroom and made it feel more modern and in style. Here are some other small projects that will make you feel good and fall in love with your home all over again.

Front Door Refresh

One of the easiest and most rewarding fall projects is to give your entryway a makeover. A fresh coat of paint on the front door gives the whole house a facelift. The early fall weather is a perfect balanced temperature for painting and is a great opportunity to explore with a fun color.

Deck Repair

Your deck probably saw a lot of traffic during the summer since you were spending time outdoors with family and friends. The fall is a perfect time to fix any broken or splintering pieces, or just to give it a good power wash and fresh staining. Your deck will be better protected in the winter months and will be ready for next summer’s parties!

Gutter Cleaning

While this may not be the project you’re looking most forward to, gutter cleaning can save you a lot of hassle down the road. When the winter weather rolls in you’ll be glad you took care of this now.

Fireplace Cleaning & Upgrade

Thinking about how you’ll use your space in the colder months will help you figure out what to prioritize. If your home has a fireplace, consider getting it cleaned before the colder weather arrives. You could also think about cosmetics, opting for a new fireplace look altogether.

Hardware Haul

A simple and cost-effective upgrade that really gives your home a fresh feel, is upgrading your kitchen and bathroom hardware. New faucets and cabinet handles/drawer pulls give your space a new look at little cost. If you need any advice or ideas on how to improve your home this fall, I’m here to help! These projects will not only deepen your appreciation for your home, but will add value to it in case you want to sell in the future!
